Names of accident victims released

The names of the five people who lost their lives in a horrific accident near Swartvlei on 8 January 2018, have been released.

According to a police spokesperson, 40 year old Phumzeka Folose-Platyi and her three daughters, 17 year old Mihle, 14 year old Ntandokazi, and 18 month old Iyazi, were traveling towards George, when she lost control of her Toyota Etios.

The vehicle collided head-on with a VW Caravelle, traveling in the opposite direction, killing Folose-Platyi and her three daughters instantly. It is believed that they were returning to Cape Town after being on holiday in the area.

A female Swedish tourist, 71 year old Lena Lönn, traveling in the VW Caravelle also died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Caravelle, a man from Rosemoor, and a male passenger sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospital, where they arrived in critical condition. The two men remain in hospital where they are still fighting for their lives.

Due to the graphic nature of the pictures, Wild News decided to place a generic picture.

Our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
