Persistent rain brings relief:

At least 3 of the sluice gates of the Clainwilliam dam had to be opened as the dam reached full capacity on Friday 7 September 2018.

Welcome rain is still falling in the catchment area of the Theewaterskloof Dam, the biggest water source for the Cape Metropole.

The Theewaterskloof Dam reached a level of over 50% compared to 26.8% a year ago. Meanwhile the Voëlvlei Dam reached 78% over the weekend, compared to 25% a year ago.

The average level of dams in and around the Cape Metropole reached 68% on 8 September. The same time last year the combined level was 35.1%.

We received the following rainfall figures from readers and followers around the country for the period 7pm on Thursday 6 September ending 7am on Saturday 8 September 2018.
